Snow

Hello Monster Storm! Wow! We are buried in snow. When I opened our back door this morning this is what I saw:

It’s gorgeous now, but I can tell you last evening was a bit scary. I woke several times throughout the evening and watched the trees blow so hard that I thought for sure they would be plucked out of the ground. It was not unlike some of the tornado storms we had this summer.

When we awoke this morning, all was quiet; the storm had passed and it was eerily silent. We peeked outside and saw snow drifts everywhere with no indication where our sidewalks were. Amazing.

This is our back yard and you can see deep foot steps leading to the car port. In the corner of the photo you can see one of the trucks buried in the snow.

You can read about the midwest blizzard of 2011 anywhere, and I bet you can find some great YouTube videos as well. Like this cool one that describes exactly what we went thru!

So while we were hauled up inside, the sun came out. Once Oliver got up from his nap we were about to venture outside. At the same time, Oliver’s dad arrived. He helped shovel us out (along with some help from the neighbors next door, the neighbors across the alley and our upstairs tenants). Oliver was so excited that Daddy was here. He had been asking about him earlier today and I didn't know when for certain he was going to stop by so I decided not to mention it to Peanut. What a great surprise! Oliver was so happy! They had alotta fun outside.

Stay tuned for some recipes. I made Roasted Red Pepper Soup today (organic red peppers were on sale this week) and I made these incredible meatballs. I mean, incredible. Wow.

Oliver’s finally in bed and I have some work to do. We were supposed to work from home today but it’s nearly impossible to work while Oliver is running around the house, jumping off couches, doing back flips off the ottoman and leaping from dining room chair to chair. I mean really. I think I have a little gymnast on my hands.

See you soon!
